Abstract
BACKGROUND: FSS have been suggested to follow activation of the immune system, triggered by herpes virus infections. The aim of this study was to find out whether herpes virus infections were associated with the experience of FSS in adolescents, and whether this association was mediated by hsCRP, as a general marker of immune activation.Entities:

HSV1 = herpes simplex virus type 1 antibody levels in the seropositive group (N = 301), EBV = Epstein barr virus antibody levels in the seropositive group (N = 305), CMV = cytomegalovirus antibody levels in the seropositive group (N = 306), HHV6 = human herpes virus 6 antibody levels in the seropositive group (N = 1117). AU = arbitrary units. All analyses were adjusted for sex, BMI, and affective problems and symptom scores in the other symptom group.
