Can Osteoarthritis Predict Mortality?

Rebecca J Cleveland1, Leigh F Callahan2.

Abstract

Osteoarthritis is the most common musculoskeletal condition. Due to the aging population and rising obesity worldwide, the projected increase in osteoarthritis is expected to be substantial. Since osteoarthritis has been associated with disability and many chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, it is important to consider its impact on mortality. ©2017 by the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and The Duke Endowment.
