Abstract
The effect of the surface oxygen tension on the oxygen-tension distribution in the tissue is considered. A mathematical formulation of the problem is presented, and the solutions are obtained numerically using a finite-element method. It is shown that the oxygen tension at the surface of the tissue may significantly affect the oxygen-tension distribution in layers of tissue situated within several intercapillary distances below the surface.Entities:
