Abstract
Exosomes play important roles in the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases by modulating intercellular communication. Contents and quantities of exosomes are variable under different pathological cardiovascular conditions. Based on these concepts, exosomes have been proposed as novel diagnostic biomarkers in cardiovascular diseases. However, many issues related with clinically applicable biomarkers remain unresolved. Within this chapter, we discuss the potential value, but also the current challenges using exosome numbers and contents as diagnostic and prognostic biomarker in diverse cardiovascular pathologies.Entities:
