Evidence for an endocrine function of the human pineal gland. Chairman's introduction.

Research to date indicates that the human pineal gland synthesizes and secretes hormones which probably influence the functioning of the neuroendocrine axis. There is no basis for the idea that the human pineal becomes less functional with age, or as it becomes calcified.
