[Transposition plasty].

A Berger.

Abstract

Severe soft tissue and bone injuries are at the lower leg area a special problem for reconstruction. Only a limited number of local tissue transfer methods is available especially in the distal lower leg. Fasciocutaneous flaps, muscle transposition and myocutaneous flaps are available to solve some of the problems. The indication, validity and local topographical use is discussed, early and aggressive debridement and early covering of soft tissue defects with the appropriate flaps is the best way to avoid infection and more damage.
