Sir,We read with interest the article titled, “Decalcified allograft in repair of lytic lesions of bone: A study to evolve bone bank in developing countries” by Gupta et al.1 We appreciate the author for their efforts. It was a pleasant surprise to come across and go through the above-mentioned article. We (from the Institute of Medical Sciences BHU and from the UCMS, Delhi University) may be considered as the proponents and propagators reporting the successful use of allogeneic decal bone. After success in animal studies,2345 we have been using this material in clinical practice since the 1980s. Success reported by the group of surgeons who have not been associated with the proponents is robust proof of the utility of this simple technique based on the pioneering work of Urist et al.67We have successfully used these materials for “cavitary” lesions, “structural” defects, and spinal fusion in children.Orthopedic surgeons would be able to develop the confidence in using this simple technique in clinical practice in the Indian subcontinent.
