Abstract
BACKGROUND: Men who have sex with men (MSM) are at high risk of developing human papillomavirus (HPV)-related anal cancer. We compared HPV genotypes in anal tissues (Bx) and anal liquid-based cytology fluid (LBC) from HIV-positive and HIV-negative MSM.Entities:

Bx, anal biopsy tissues; LBC, liquid-based cytology fluid samples; LSIL, low-grade squamous intraepithelial neoplasia; HSIL, high-grade squamous intraepithelial neoplasia.
A McNemar's test was used to compare the discordant proportions of each HPV subtype in the LBC and Bx samples from the same participant.
Logistic regression models showing the odds ratio and 95% confidence interval for the detection of any HPV or any HR-HPV subtypes in MSM participants by histopathology grading and HIV-status.
