Abstract
BACKGROUND: Dental esthetics, chewing and speech should be preserved in a dentition denominated functional and are closely related to satisfaction with oral health (SOH), impacts caused by oral problems and have a possible association with Oral Health-Related Quality of Life. Thus, the purpose of the present study was to investigate the influence of different concepts of functional dentition (FD) on both SOH and impacts on daily performance (IDP) among Brazilian adults.Entities:

Issues related to nine performances that compose the Oral Impacts on Daily Performances questionnaire
Some people have problems that are caused by their teeth. Among the situations listed below, which apply to your experiences in the last 6 months?
1) Had difficulty eating because of your teeth or felt tooth pain (dental sensitivity) when drinking cold or hot liquids (no, yes or doesn’t know/didn’t answer)
2) Your teeth causes you discomfort when brushing (no, yes or doesn’t know/didn’t answer)
3) Your teeth made up upset or irritable (no, yes or doesn’t know/didn’t answer)
4) Did not go out, have fun, go to parties or go on trips because of your teeth (no, yes or doesn’t know/didn’t answer)
5) Did not practice sports because of your teeth (no, yes or doesn’t know/didn’t answer)
6) Had difficulty speaking because of your teeth (no, yes or doesn’t know/didn’t answer)
7) Your teeth made you embarrassed to smile or speak (no, yes or doesn’t know/didn’t answer)
8) Your teeth had a negative effect on studying/doing housework/working (no, yes or doesn’t know/didn’t answer)
9) Did not sleep or slept poorly because of your teeth (no, yes or doesn’t know/didn’t answer)
