Abstract
PURPOSE: Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is the most common cause of preventable mental retardation. Recently, the detection of CH cases with eutopic thyroid gland has increased due to neonatal screening programs. In this study, we aimed to identify and evaluate predictive factors that could distinguish between permanent and transient CH in patients with eutopic thyroid gland.Entities:

Binary logistic regression analysis of factors associated with transient congenital hypothyroidism (n=100, r2=0.313, P <0.001)

Regression analysis contained the following independent variables entered in to the model: birth weight; gestational age; initial TSH and free thyroxine levels; and the levothyroxine dose during treatment period.
TSH, thyroid stimulating hormone.
