On behalf of the ERA-EDTA, the NDT Editorial Office is proud to present its new educational journal NDT Plus. As announced in our Editorial Note1 in the July 2007 issue, this new bimonthly journal is designed to enhance, complement and add value to the leading nephrology journal NDT. NDT Plus aims to be an educational and training resource focusing on postgraduate clincial education and topics of interest to the practicing nephrologist. We trust that this new journal will represent a unique platform to help inform, guide and improve practice and training for nephrologists. We will be inviting experts to write in-depth clinical reviews for this new journal, as we know that these are greatly appreciated by our readers. Furthermore, we will publish clinical case reports as well as traditional educational features including teaching points, nephroquizzes, images in nephrology, and letters to the editor (not related to papers previously published in NDT). From now on, supplements will also be published as supplements to NDT Plus. All articles for NDT Plus will be peer-reviewed in order to ensure that only high-quality material is included. We are hopeful that our new journal will rapidly be incorporated into Medline and assigned an impact factor. The launch of this new journal required a great deal of effort and we would therefore like to extend a special word of thanks to the ERA-EDTA council, the subject and section editors, the reviewers, the editorial staff as well as our publisher OUP for their help, trust and support. We hope you will enjoy reading this first printed issue of NDT Plus and, as always, we welcome any suggestions you may have for further improvements.
