One patient carries two K8/K18 variants (K18 N193S+K8 IVS3-15C→G). The table displays the number of patients with NAFLD and controls harboring the listed keratin variants. IR: Insulin resistance; NAFLD: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Figure 1Detection of keratin variants in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease patients and controls. Genomic DNA was sequenced in the forward and reverse directions. The nucleotide locations of the variants were determined as described in “Patients and Methods”. The heterozygous K8 exon 6-R341H (A) and novel heterozygous variant K18 exon 3-N193S (B) are presented in comparison with their corresponding wild type (WT) samples.
