BACKGROUND: There are a million ragpickers in India who gather and trade recyclable municipal solid wastes materials for a living. The objective of this study was to examine whether their occupation adversely affects their immunity.Entities:

Demography and socio-economic features of control women versus ragpickers were compared statistically by Mann–Whitney U test (for median with IQR), χ2-test (for results in % values), and Student t test (for results with mean ± SD) as appropriate.
