Abstract
We report here a case of cavitary pneumonia due to Rhizopus homothallicus in a diabetic patient. This is the first proven case of R. homothallicus infection in Western countries and the third case described worldwide. The organism was isolated from lung biopsy and identified after amplification and sequencing of the internal transcribed spacer region.Entities:
