Figure 2Examples of ultrasound cross-sections showing measurements of cross-sectional area of median nerve in arm. (A) Homogeneous enlargement was shown at sites A7–A10 of median nerve in a Charcot–Marie–Tooth type 1A patient. (B) Segmental enlargement was seen at sites A7–A10 of median nerve in a chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) patient (type 3). (C) Mild nerve enlargement was shown at sites A7–A10 of median nerve in a CIDP patient (type 2).
Figure 3The cross-sectional area (CSA) at different sites of median (A) and ulnar (B) nerves of four patients. Three chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) patients of different types, as well as a Charcot–Marie–Tooth type 1A (CMT1A) patient were compared. Segmental prominent enlargement was observed in patient of CIDP type 3, and mild nerve enlargement was observed in CIDP type 2. In CMT1A patient, the CSAs at outlet of cubital tunnel, cubital tunnel, and inlet of cubital tunnel were smaller than adjacent sites.
The comparison of clinical data between chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) type 2 and CIDP type 3.
