Abstract
Cyclic AMP analogues induced expression of metallothionein-I (MT-I) mRNA in adult rat liver and in rat hepatocytes cultured in serum-free medium. This induction occurred via an increased rate of transcription of the MT-I gene. The effect of cyclic AMP analogues was tissue-specific since no induction of MT-I mRNA occurred in rat kidney. Induction of MT-I mRNA by a combination of cyclic AMP analogue and dexamethasone was additive in liver and cultured hepatocytes, indicating that induction occurred via independent regulatory pathways.Entities:
