Abstract
Chronic Epstein-Barr virus infection was confirmed serologically in a 27-year-old man with pneumonia, splenomegaly, pancytopenia, arthritis, neuropathy and psychological changes. Immunological tests revealed a defect in the cytotoxic activity of the natural killer cells. Treatment with high doses of acyclovir intravenously and of antimycotic drugs dramatically and lastingly improved the patient's condition.Entities:
