Abstract

Sex-dependent differences in diuranl rhythms of insects concerning mainly phase and pattern are reviewed. As possible significant factors in the evolution of such differences are discussed: life span of the species, mode of assembling of both sexes, and temporal determination of sex-specific behaviour.
