Coevolution: Patterns of legume predation by a lycaenid butterfly.

D E Breedlove1, P R Ehrlich2.

Abstract

Perennial legumes in Gunnison County, Colorado suffer heavy differential flower predation by larvae of a lycaenid butterfly. The butterfly populations may be resource-limited, and seem in turn to be an important factor in the evolution and distribution of the various legume species.
