Abstract

In geriatric patients, ultrasound is the appropriate diagnostic technique to detect and to follow-up underlying and accompanying diseases of the heart, lung, liver, kidneys, pancreas, gastrointestinal tract and of arterial and venous vessels. Based on a systematic survey of the published literature, this review describes the value of ultrasound in geriatric patients focussing on point of care. © Georg Thieme Verlag KG Stuttgart · New York.
