Benign cystic teratoma of the ovary rupturing into the rectum: a rare problem.

S A Livesey, P C Conn, D C Dunn.

Abstract

Benign cystic teratoma of the ovary is a common neoplasm which only rarely presents as a result of ovarian rupture. Rupture into the rectum has been described infrequently. We describe a case of rupture of an ovarian cystic teratoma which presented as a change in bowel habit, due to faeces filling the cyst and compressing the rectum.
