Irritability in Childhood and Adolescence.

Simone C Durand, Teena M McGuinness.

Abstract

Irritability is common among children 5 and younger and is defined as a marked predisposition to anger. Irritability in childhood is associated with later psychopathology, suicide, and financial instability. Its persistence through later childhood may be associated with mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders. Assessment of irritability and psychiatric nursing implications are discussed.
