Abstract

The capsular polysaccharide from a new capsular serotype of Klebsiella, K21b, has been investigated, using n.m.r. spectroscopy, methylation analysis, and specific degradations as the main methods. It is concluded that the polysaccharide is composed of pentasaccharide repeating-units having the following structure. (formula; see text)
