Abstract
Stretch of active whole muscle causes a sudden yielding of the sarcomeres when the actin and myosin filaments are displaced by 10-12 nm from their isometric position. This behaviour is not normally seen during stretch of singly-dissected fibres, but it can be induced by introducing series compliance into the system.Entities:
