Abstract
We report for the first time a case of metastatic endophthalmitis caused by the gram-negative organism Enterobacter agglomerans (Erwinia species). One day following internal hemorrhoidal ligation, the patient developed anterior uveitis that progressed to panophthalmitis with a lenticular abscess and a necrotic retina. Despite aggressive surgery and appropriate antibiotic therapy, the affected eye lost useful vision.Entities:
