Abstract
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections are common and their incidence increases with age. In immunocompetent people they are usually asymptomatic or manifest as a mild, self-limiting mononucleosis syndrome. CMV infection in patients with immune deficiency as well as congenital infections may cause a considerable problem. A group of experts designated by the Polish Society of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases has prepared recommendations on the diagnosis and treatment of CMV infections, with particular emphasis on the management of patients with immunodeficiencies and congenital infections.Entities:
