Abstract
Necrotizing enterocolitis is a devastating disease afflicting premature infants, though after 50 years of investigation, the pathophysiology remains elusive. This report describes the possible etiologic factors from a historical perspective, and outlines the importance of human milk, intestinal blood flow, and intestinal blood flow changes from a developmental perspective over the last 40-50 years.Entities:
