Abstract
The CDC Steven M. Teutsch Prevention Effectiveness Fellowship was started in 1995 to provide postdoctoral training in public health economics. This article describes the origins and state of the fellowship and the practice of prevention effectiveness research at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The fellowship can be seen as one successful example of a demand-driven public health innovation to develop crucial capacity for the contemporary health system. Nearly 150 individuals have been trained through the program since its inception.Entities:
