Abstract
OBJECTIVE: An experiment was to evaluate the interplay of dietary lipid sources and feeding regime in the transition from sow milk to solid food of abruptly weaned piglets.Entities:

Basal, A 3% crude fat corn-soybean meal diet formulated to 1.2% lysine; 9C, coconut oil was added at 6% level to a 3% crude fat corn-soybean meal basal diet; 9S, soybean oil was added at 6% level to a 3% crude fat corn-soybean meal basal diet; 9L, lard was added at 6% level to a 3% crude fat corn-soybean meal basal diet.
Vitamin premix provided the following quantities of vitamins per kilogram of basal diet: 11,234 IU of vitamin A as retinyl acetate; 1,156 IU of vitamin D as cholecalciferol; dl-α-tocopheryl acetate, 150 mg; menadione sodium bisulfite complex, 7 mg; riboflavin, 15 mg; vitamin B12, 60 μg; d-Ca-pantothenic acid, 41 mg; niacin, 56 mg; and choline chloride, 551 mg.
Mineral premix provided the following quantities of minerals per kilogram of basal diet: Fe, 100 mg (FeSO4·H2O); Zn, 111 mg (ZnO); Mn, 22 mg (MnO); Cu, 9 mg (CuSO4·H2O); I, 0.39 mg (CaI2); Se, 0.33 mg (Na2SeO3); and NaCl, 3.3 g.
