Abstract
Provided a well-equipped laboratory and a properly trained staff are available, plasma concentrations of aminoglycosides should be determined in cases of severe impairment of renal function, changes in the body fluid content (oedema, dehydration), and anemia. In the absence of the above-mentioned facilities, the half-life should be estimated on the basis of creatinine clearance, and the plasma concentration calculated accordingly. Close clinical supervision of patients receiving aminoglycosides is however the most important aspect of treatment.Entities:
