Abstract
We consider the effect of volume diffusion on measurements of the bidirectional scattering distribution function when a finite distance is used for the solid angle defining aperture. We derive expressions for correction factors that can be used when the reduced scattering coefficients and the index of refraction are known. When these quantities are not known, the expressions can be used to guide the assessment of measurement uncertainty. We find that some measurement geometries reduce the effect of volume diffusion compared to their reciprocal geometries.Entities:
