Nasal astrocytoma or nasal glial heterotopia?

J K Chan1, W H Lau.

Abstract

This report describes a unique astrocytic lesion of the nasal cavity that was connected to a frontal lobe astrocytoma via the eroded cribriform plate. The nasal lesion probably resulted from downward extension of the cerebral astrocytoma. Other possibilities included coexistence of nasal glial heterotopia and intracerebral astrocytoma, and nasal glial heterotopia complicated by neoplastic transformation and intracranial extension.
