BET 1: Utility of ultrasound in the diagnosis of shoulder dislocation.

Michael Gottlieb1, Harriet Edwards2.

Abstract

This short-cut review was carried out to examine the evidence for the use of ultrasound in diagnosing shoulder dislocation in adult patients presenting to EDs. A literature search was carried out that found two relevant papers. The author, date and country of publication, patient group studied, study type, relevant outcomes, results and study weaknesses of these papers are tabulated. The clinical bottom line is that ultrasound of the shoulder appears to have a very high sensitivity and specificity within this patient group. Published by the BMJ Publishing Group Limited.
