Abstract
A problem of great interest and implication to a medical researcher planning an investigation is the determination of sample size. This should be decided by balancing statistical against practical and clinical considerations. Unfortunately, many give little thought to sample size and choose an arbitrary number (20, 50, 100, etc.) for their study. This paper provides an understanding of the basis for determining the sample size and some helpful tools.Mesh:
