Health effects of air pollution in Dublin.

J Kevany1, M Rooney1, J Kennedy1.

Abstract

A STUDY of the relationship between air pollution and specific health indicators in Dublin 1970-73 was undertaken using partial correlation analysis. Deaths and hospital admissions from cardiovascular and respiratory disease showed significant correlations with levels of sulphur dioxide and smoke in the winter months (October to March). Implications for community health and the need for further study are discussed.
