Presensitization patterns in renal allograft recipients-A correlation with graft outcome.

S B Moore1, H F Taswell1, Y Iwaki2, P I Terasaki2.

Abstract

In a retrospective study of 204 sera obtained from recipients immediately prior to renal transplantation, an assessment was made of the correlation between graft survival and the presence of antibodies of differing thermal amplitude and directed against different lymphocyte subpopulations. In our patients, the pre-transplant possession of "B cold" reactivity pattern was associated with better living related to donor graft function than possession of "B warm" or "no antibody" patterns. Recipients of cadaveric grafts fared better with "B cold" patterns than if they had "B warm" patterns.
