Abstract
In the United States, an increasing number of individuals are being diagnosed with end stage renal disease requiring renal replacement therapy. Home dialysis modalities are an available option in lieu of in-center hemodialysis therapy for these individuals, but are vastly underutilized in the U.S. for multiple reasons. Both healthcare providers and individuals requiring renal replacement therapy are frequently unaware these modalities are an available alternative to in-center hemodialysis and of the potential benefits related to home modality use. Lack of healthcare provider and patient education regarding home modalities is a primary factor related to underutilization.Entities:
