Abstract
A case of asthma induced by a iodinated medium (ICM) is reported. The ordinary ICM for urography were well tolerated. The suspected drug included polyvidon (PVP). Skin test, human basophil degranulation tests and leukocyte histamine release are negative for meglumine ioxitalamate, and positive for PVP. PVP is a macromolecule, used in different drugs, and as a clarifying agent of alcohols. An IgE-dependent allergy to PVP is postulated.Entities:
