Dear Editor, The Zika virus has undoubtedly become a global health hazard. This infection is a dengue-like febrile illness and can result in fever with thrombocytopenia.1, 2 There are only a few reports on its effect on the cardiovascular system. In the first case report from China, there is no abnormal electrocardiograph. Vital signs, including heart rate and blood pressure, are normal. Indeed, it might be possible to have increased heart rate with a high fever in some cases, but there has never been any report on arrhythmia. For a dengue-like illness with possible hemorrhagic complication, decreased blood pressure and shock are possible. However, there is no report on this problem. There is also no arrhythmia and decreased blood pressure in Thai cases. Nevertheless, further investigation and observation of the possible problem of arrhythmia and low blood pressure are still needed.
