Sir, The recent report on “autoimmune encephalitis” is very interesting.[1] Cyril et al. noted that “one-third of patients presenting with acute noninfective encephalitis would be positive for NMDAR antibodies with the remaining two-thirds with clinically suspected autoimmune encephalitis being antibody-negative.”[1] The important consideration is on the diagnostic property of the tests for autoimmunity in this report. There is no data on this aspect. In fact, the reliability of the test is very important in selecting the diagnostic test for determining autoimmunity.[2] Based on literature search, there is no report confirming the reliability and acceptability of the test kit. The technique used in the present report might not be a standard technique and this requires clarification.
