Usage of U7 snRNA in gene therapy of hemoglobin S disorder - is it feasible?

Viroj Wiwanitkit1.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Hemoglobin (Hb) S disorder [beta6(A3)Glu-->Val, GAG-->GTG] is an important hemoglobinopathy with the highest endemicity in Africa.
METHODS: Here, the author performs a basic bioinformatics gene ontology study to assess the effect of co-expression between nucleic acid sequence for human Hb S beta globin chain and U7.623.
RESULTS: According to this study, the analytical results show that fully recovery of hemoglobin in both function and biological process can be got.
CONCLUSION: Here, the author proposed that U7 snRNA might be a probable tool for treatment by gene therapy approach in Hb S disorder.
