Abstract
The authors present two cases of cervical spondylodiscitis occurring following intubation. The most probably mechanism was direct contamination of the inter-vertebral disk through a lesion of the posterior pharyngeal wall, but other possible mechanisms for the spread of infection are discussed. This very rare complication should be borne in mind and routinely sought when there is persistence of cervical pain following intubation.Entities:
