Abstract
Amyloidosis is a systemic disease caused by the accumulation of extracellular protein into amyloid deposits. Due to the involvement of a variety of organs and tissues, the disease has no specific clinical features and a high rate of misdiagnosis. The present study describes one case of primary amyloidosis, as confirmed by biopsies of rectal and renal tissues using Congo red staining, demonstrating that abdominal distension and diarrhea were the main symptoms of disease. The current case is also discussed within the context of a review of the associated literature.Entities:
