Scavenger Receptor B-1 Emerges as Anti-atherogenic Candidate.

Scott M Grundy1.

Abstract

Scavenger receptor B-1 (SR-B1) facilitates reverse cholesterol transport by transferring cholesterol esters of high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) into the liver. Zanoni et al. (2016) report that a genetic deficiency of normal SR-B1 appears to predispose subjects to coronary heart disease in spite of raising serum HDL cholesterol levels. Published by Elsevier Inc.
