Successful Admission Criteria to Predict Academic and Clinical Success in Entry-Level Radiography Programs.

Jennett M Ingrassia.

Abstract

PURPOSE: To examine successful admission criteria in health education programs.
METHODS: Health sciences databases were searched for admission criteria in medical and allied health education. Special emphasis was placed on radiologic technology investigations. DISCUSSION: Many medical and health sciences programs use cognitive and noncognitive factors to predict student success. However, research has not identified common admission criteria that can be used to predict academic and clinical success of candidates in radiologic technology education programs.
CONCLUSION: Further research is needed to investigate the use of cognitive and noncognitive factors as admission criteria for radiologic technology programs and to determine whether these factors can be used to predict student success.
