Abstract
The factors that precipitate the transition from insulin resistance to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remain elusive. A recent study showed that circulating levels of the furan fatty acid (FA) metabolite 3-Carboxy-4-Methyl-5-Propyl-2-Furanopropanoic Acid (CMPF) increase in individuals who progress from prediabetes to T2DM. CMPF increases oxidative stress and impairs insulin granule maturation and secretion.Entities:
