Abstract
BACKGROUND: Both procalcitonin (PCT) and soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 (sTREM-1) have been investigated separately as indicators of infection in patients with autoimmune diseases. Our study simultaneously evaluated both PCT and sTREM-1 along with C-reactive protein (CRP) in febrile patients with autoimmune diseases.Entities:

Fig 1Individual plasma levels and medians of (A) soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1(sTREM-1); (B) procalcitonin (PCT); and (C) C-reactive protein (CRP) in the two groups.
The horizontal bars represent the median values.
Fig 2The receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curves of soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1(sTREM-1), procalcitonin (PCT), and C-reactive protein (CRP) for prediction of infection.
The area under the ROC curve was 0.52 for sTREM-1, 0.76 for PCT and 0.63 for CRP.
