Abstract
BACKGROUND: Restricted physical activity commonly occurs following acute musculoskeletal pain in older adults and may influence long-term outcomes. We sought to examine the relationship between restricted physical activity after motor vehicle collision (MVC) and the development of persistent pain.Entities:

e Defined as a ≥ 25 point decrease in Physical Activity Score for the Elderly (PASE) during the 6 weeks following ED visit
Adjusted relationships between three measures of restricted activity at 6 weeks and pain and functional outcomes at 6 months. Estimates adjusted for age, sex, race, education, pain severity in the ED, pain severity prior to MVC, depressive symptoms, whether a lawyer had been hired 6 weeks after MVC, and the speed of the vehicle at impact (if another vehicle was involved and both vehicles were in motion, the higher speed was used). Values are reported as adjusted mean (SE)
