Abstract
Posttraumatic myositis ossificans (PTMO) is the most common form of myositis ossificans, but it rarely affects the hand. Due to the aggressive behavior of this unusual tumor, it is commonly misdiagnosed as malignancy or local infection. This report describes a case of PTMO of the hand in a 25-year-old women, and reviews the clinical, radiologic, and histologic characteristics. By understanding the disease characteristics and maturation process, physicians can avoid a misdiagnosis that may lead to functional impairment or improper treatment.Entities:
