Focal therapy has emerged as a tissue-sparing treatment modality for selected men with low to intermediate volume, localized prostate cancer with the advantage of reducing treatment morbidity because of preservation of untreated prostate tissue and surrounding structures. Irreversible electroporation is an emerging interventional focal therapy modality that uses high voltage electrical fields to induce cell death.
